This seal stops the crankcase oil fumes blowing into the clutch housing, helping to reduce oil contamination on the clutch linings; it is a direct replacement for the crankcase oil thrower and thrower cover (no modification needed).
An auxiliary breather pipe must be fitted to the valve cover (as was standard fit for 1936 models onward).
